The cooperatives

CoopCycle is made up of worker-owned and managed cooperatives and social economy entities that have come together to pool their knowledge, resources, and experience. Some of us are still in the process of democratising our workspace, and others are established businesses with many years of experience.

We are messengers, managers and mechanics all rolled into one. In our hip bags we have spare tubes, business cards and allen keys. We don’t ask for jobs handed out from a gig economy corporations, we make our own.

Our members

We have small bike collectives who deliver urgent small packages around dense urban centres, social economy associations trying to promote bicycles as a form of urban regeneration, food platforms that feed medium-sized cities, and large logistics operations that move pallets between warehouses.

What are the conditions to join Us ?

We support only co-ops and non-lucrative organisation. But, you don’t have to be directly that, it’s something that you can build timely

Don’t be exploitative

Are you trying to make money while others do the work? If so, please go rethink your life choices. CoopCycle is made by messengers, for messengers. Collaboration means working collectively and making sure all members can make their work their own.

Cooperative structure

Working cooperatively can look different in different places, but at the end of the day cooperation means everyone having say in their day-to-day working conditions and taking responsibility for their business. In your case whether this is a cooperative, an association, or something else, we want to know about how you organise your work together.

Be part of the culture

The basis of our culture is our businesses, our art, and most of all our bicycles. Are you a social economy association? Go meet your local fixie squad. Are you a member of a local emergency fund? Check out who does last mile delivery. We are a diverse community and need to foster connections to become stronger, together.

Improve working conditions

The logistics sector is full of excited individuals who wanted to change the world and make a good living, and were taken advantage of by larger companies. The business exploits young people, immigrants, and socially excluded communities. In CoopCycle we are those communities, and we benchmark our project on how we improve our own working conditions.
